Julia Roberts & George Clooney Reteam
Julia Roberts has always been a fan favorite in romantic comedies, and her new movie allows us to see her and George Clooney work together again. The 61-year-old actor and the 54-year-old actress have worked together on several rom-coms, such as Ocean’s Eleven and Money Monster.
They play a divorced couple who get back together to stop their daughter from marrying a man she just met. Even though there aren’t many surprises in Ticket to Paradise’s plot, some interesting character moments keep you interested.
David (Clooney) and Georgia Cotton are the parents of Lily (Kaitlyn Dever), a smart law school graduate who is engaged to a local seaweed farmer named Gede (Maxime Bouttier). Even though they are bitter and angry about their stormy marriage, they are still close because of their daughter. When their daughter decides to marry her new boyfriend, they get on a plane and try to stop the wedding.
Even though the movie sometimes relies too much on the two actors’ charm, it’s still fun to watch them mess around with each other. When David and Georgia bring back their college tradition of beer pong, those scenes stand out even more. They also dance to “Jump Around” by House of Pain so loudly that you’d think it was a live performance. Even so, it’s hard to believe that they went from sniping at each other with hate to flirting with each other so quickly.
Ticket To Paradise Review
In Ocean’s Eleven, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Money Monster, and this one, George Clooney and Julia Roberts have shown that they are big stars. Even though Ticket To Paradise isn’t their best movie, it’s still a fun romantic comedy with a lot of funny dialogue and beautiful scenery (and an early release date for the Blu-ray).
As a romantic comedy, Ticket to Paradise depends too much on the charm of its stars, which is a shame because they can give fans of this type of movie a lot of fun. But it also goes too far into sad drama, which takes away from the funny parts and makes the whole thing feel forced.
Still, it’s a fun trip to the tropics that will please all viewers, no matter how old or what they like. It moves quickly, and Bali looks like a beautiful place.
Ol Parker and Daniel Pipski, who worked together on the Ocean’s movies, wrote the screenplay for the film. The plot is simple: Two ex-wives who don’t like each other end up on vacation together in Bali, where they try to stop their daughter from making the same mistake they did when they were young.
They do manage to ruin the wedding, which is a lot of fun. But the rest of the movie’s script only does a little, and there are a few gooey parts. Ultimately, it’s a mediocre romantic comedy that gets everything wrong on an emotional level.
